Which language will you sit the test in?
For the Permiso B, the DGT offers the theory test in Spanish, English, French and German, and in Catalan, Basque, Galician or Valencian within their own regions. You choose the language when you apply: confirm it with your Jefatura de Tráfico (or your driving school) when you book. The practical driving test is usually conducted in Spanish (or a regional co-official language).
Sitting it in Spanish?
Practise in Spanish, as on exam day, with English one tap away: translate a question when you are stuck, tap a word for its meaning and read each explanation in English. ListoB only calls you ready when you can pass in Spanish without help.
Sitting it in English?
Turn on English practice when you start, or later in Settings: ListoB’s English translation becomes the main text, with the Spanish one tap away. It is our own translation, not the DGT’s English version, so the wording on exam day will differ. To see the DGT’s own wording, try its free online practice tests, where you choose the language.

What you get with ListoB
Tap to translate
Questions stay in Spanish. One tap shows the question and its three answers in English. 1,340 questions written by ListoB have an English version; the rest are Spanish-only.
Explanations in English
For the 1,340 questions written by ListoB, read why in English and in Spanish after you answer. Translations are made by AI and spot-checked by AI, not by a human translator, and each one has a button to report an error.
A 313-term exam glossary
Tap a highlighted word for its English meaning, a simple Spanish definition and Spanish audio (if your device has a Spanish voice). Save words to your vocabulary trainer.
Exam Spanish lessons
Short “Español del examen” lessons on how the questions are worded, with drills built from ListoB’s own questions.
Readiness score and mock exams
A score per topic shows what to fix, and mock exams follow the exam format: 30 questions, 30 minutes, at most 3 errors.

Help the DGT offers on exam day
The DGT offers three aids for the theory test. Request them in advance, through your driving school or at the Jefatura when you book, not on exam day:
- Lectura Fácil: an easy-read version of the test in plain Spanish, only at computer-based exam centres.
- Auriculares: headphones that read the questions and answers aloud, in Spanish only.
- Ampliación de tiempo: extra time for duly justified special needs.
Lectura Fácil and the audio are meant for people who find reading the questions difficult, and the Jefatura decides on each request. Both exist only in Spanish; extra time does not depend on the exam language.

Spanish exam words and their translation traps
Sitting the test in Spanish? You will read these words on screen. Sitting it in English? You will still hear them in the practical test, which is usually conducted in Spanish.
Ceda el paso — Give way
Not “cede the pass”: let other traffic go first and stop only if you need to. It is also the name of the upside-down triangle sign.
Arcén — Hard shoulder
Not for cars, but cyclists, mopeds and other slow vehicles must ride on it when it is passable and wide enough.
Travesía — Through-road in a town
The stretch of a main road that runs through a built-up area: generic limit 50 km/h, or 40 km/h for vehicles carrying dangerous goods. In everyday Spanish it can also mean a side street or a sea crossing.
Turismo — Car
False friend: in the exam it means an ordinary passenger car with up to nine seats, not tourism.
Calzada — Carriageway
The part of the road for vehicles, made up of lanes. The hard shoulder and the pavement are not part of it.
Adelantamiento — Overtaking
Passing a vehicle ahead of you that is going the same way, which is not the same as simply changing lanes.
Glorieta / rotonda — Roundabout
Vehicles already on the roundabout have priority. You go round anticlockwise and signal before you exit.
Vía interurbana — Non-urban road
Any road outside built-up areas: ordinary roads, dual carriageways and motorways, each with its own speed limits.
Common questions
Can I take the DGT theory test in English?
Yes. For the Permiso B, the DGT offers the theory test in Spanish, English, French and German, and in Catalan, Basque, Galician or Valencian within their own regions. Confirm the language with your Jefatura de Tráfico when you book. The practical driving test is usually conducted in Spanish (or a regional co-official language).
Should I sit the exam in English or in Spanish?
Pick the language you read best under time pressure: 30 questions in 30 minutes. If your Spanish is good, the Spanish test uses the same words as Spanish theory books, driving lessons and the practical test. If not, sit it in English and practise with ListoB’s English translation, with the Spanish terms one tap away. That translation is ListoB’s own, not the DGT’s, so expect different wording on the day.
Are these the real DGT exam questions?
No. The DGT does not publish its full question bank. ListoB’s 2,000 practice questions follow the exam format: three options, one correct answer. 1,340 of them, written by ListoB, have an English translation made by AI and spot-checked by AI; the rest are in Spanish only. ListoB is not affiliated with the DGT.
I already have a driving licence. Do I need the test?
Maybe not. EU and EEA licences stay valid in Spain. Licences from the 33 countries with an exchange agreement, the UK among them, can be exchanged without tests if you got them before becoming resident in Spain. Licences from countries without an agreement, such as the USA, Canada or Australia, cannot be exchanged, so you need to pass both tests.

Is ListoB free?
Yes, to start, with no signup: a diagnostic, unlimited practice and missions, 2 mock exams a week and 10 mistake reviews a day. Translations, the glossary and the lessons are included. The AI tutor gives 5 free answers a day. Plus removes these limits and adds your estimated chance of passing (also in Spanish without help), a plan to your exam date for your calendar, a listening mode and a printable review sheet.
Can ListoB promise that I will pass?
No, and nobody honestly can. Your readiness score is an estimate built from your answers in each topic: it shows what to fix before exam day, not a promise.
